A Laurel County man indicted on a federal murder charge after being pardoned by former governor Matt Bevin is being released from jail. A judge ruled Patrick Baker can remain on house arrest until his trial date in August. He was to be released Wednesday. Conditions of his release include giving up his gun and wearing a tracking device. Baker was convicted of manslaughter in the 2014 death of Donald Mills. He was later pardoned in Bevin’s final days as governor in 2019. Baker was arrested on the federal charge at the end of May.

The federal government is set to announce that fully vaccinated Canadian travellers will no longer need to spend 14 days in quarantine when they come home. It will apply to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have had a full course of a COVID-19 vaccine. Travellers will be required to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival in Canada, and remain in isolation until the test comes back negative. The government will also eliminate the need for fully vaccinated Canadian air travellers to spend three days quarantining in an authorized hotel upon arriving in the country.
